This fine Turkish prayer kilim is from the Obruk region near Konya in Central Anatolia. featuring an elongated central mihrab (prayer niche) in rich madder red, framed by elaborate geometric borders and symbolic motifs. Hand-woven using natural vegetable dyes, it features an exceptionally thin, tightly packed slit-weave structure that gives it a supple, tapestry-like handle and highlights the superior skill of the weaver.
