Cleaning & Restoration

At SIEZ Gallery, we believe that knowing how to care for your rug is just as important as choosing the right one.

Whether your piece is a 150-year-old antique or more modern, proper maintenance will preserve your rug's beauty.

Protecting against moths

One of the most common questions we receive is: “Can moths really eat my rug?” Unfortunately, the answer is yes. But the good news is that prevention is simple.

Keep it in use: Rugs that are vacuumed, moved, and walked on regularly are very unlikely to suffer moth damage.

Avoid long-term storage: Many antique rugs are left in attics or storage rooms for weeks, months, or even years. This still and often dark damp environemnt is perfect for moths.

If you do decide to store your rug, make sure its rolled up tightly with the pile facing inwards, and use a durable material like Tyvek to wrap it. This keep insects out whilst preventing the build-up of moisture.

Dealing with Spillages

Spillages are inevitable, especially if your rug lives in a dining or sitting room. In most cases, a damp cloth is all that’s needed to gently blot away the mess. However, for larger or more stubborn stains, professional care may be the best option.

Our experienced rug cleaning company specialise in restoring rugs to their best condition. In many cases, professional cleaning not only revives the fibres, but enhances the natural colour palette, allowing the rug to appear more striking than before.

Damage from Pets

Dogs and cats bring joy to our homes—but they can also cause frustration when it comes to rugs. Chewed corners, scratched fringes, and torn fibres are common problems.

The good news? They can be fixed.

We partner with a skilled rug restoration team who expertly repair and re-weave all types of damage. Whether the issue is small or more significant, they are dedicated to transforming your rug back to its original beauty, so that it can be cherished for years to come.
