This is an exquisite prayer rug that was most likely woven in eastern Turkey, at around 1920. It contains many unusual elements, like the artic blue panel, that stands amidst the fiery shades of yellow and orange that permeate most of the rug. The playful motifs along the border are also fascinating, since they vary in size and colour, giving the effect of being 'hand-drawn' pictograms. These experimental aspects make this is a one-of-a-kind Turkish Kilim.
