This rug has a well known traditional design that originates from the region of Arak. Despite displaying so many intricate features, it is the large Jewel-shaped medallion in the centre that first captures the attention. Its naive design suggests it was made in a village of this region, and its this very thing that gives it its sublime character. surrounded by a dark indigo shadow that appears to be a silhouette, indicative of a night sky, whist the sheer abundance of leaves, flower heads and interconnected vines make it easy to get lost in this remarkable scene with a gorgeous saturated colour palette. It shows various signs of abrash and other imperfections, but this only adds to its presence.
