This fascinating Kordi rug shows the diversity of Persian craftsmanship. The primary border, protected by 'medachyl' spikes, displays a slightly enigmatic pattern that resembles interconnected shrubs and birds, whilst the field is structured with a lattice of hexagonal medallions. Although a rich shade of red dominates the surface, outlines of deep blue and burning orange are added to make the motifs glow like embers. Overall, this village rug, completed with the makers signature, embodies the raw emotion of tribal designs.
