This well-structured rug of caucasian design was crafted by the Kurds of north-west Persia. It contains three main boarders that are filled with various traditional motifs, like crosses and stylised scorpions. The playful colour scheme used here is testament to the quality of Kurdish wool, but also allows the midnight blue field to stand out, which boasts an array of intricate flower heads. Despite a few imperfections, this sheer diversity of colour and design used in this rug makes it a truly mesmerising piece.
