This hand-knotted Antique Baluch Rug, woven in Afghanistan, is an exemple of nomadic tribal art. The main field features a classic design, configured in vertical columns filled with stylised tribal emblems. These intricate red and black motifs are strongly delineated by alternating ivory pinstripes, creating a dense, geometric layout characteristic of traditional Khorassan and Afghan Baluchi weaving. Framing this dark, moody composition are beautifully preserved kilim ends at both the top and bottom borders. These flat-woven bands showcase a subtle herringbone pattern that acts as a structural finish to secure the wool pile, serving as a highly desirable marker of authenticity that significantly enhances the rug's historical value.
