19th-century antique Kurdish kilim runner. Displays a masterfully tight, paper-thin flatweave that indicates an origin of remarkable skill, closely mirroring the technical brilliance of the Senneh region. The long, gallery-format canvas features a dense, multi-tiered geometric lattice of interlocking diamond motifs and stacked triangular medallions, each meticulously detailed with miniature tribal symbols. Woven entirely from hand-spun wool utilizing premium, organic vegetable pigments, the vibrant palette relies on rich indigo blues and deep madder reds contrasted against warm ochre yellow, forest green, and un-dyed cream. Over a century of natural aging has lent the textile a beautiful, soft horizontal abrash that adds immense visual depth, while the intricate composition is elegantly framed by multiple guard stripes and a primary ivory border adorned with running geometric "S" motifs. Preserved with age related imperfections.
