Antique Camel ground Baluch prayer rug, handwoven around Circa 1900 along the borderlands of Khorasan & Western Afghanistan. The central field is made of soft, undyed camel wool with a highly structured "Tree of Life" design, which features a vertical trunk adorned with geometric, mirrored branches that represent growth and divine connection. Framing the top of the camel field is a stepped mihrab (prayer niche) flanked by two rectangular hand placement panels containing intricate multi-pointed stars. A dense inner border of eight-pointed star motifs and a wide outer border of repeating geometric floral patterns add a bold contrast using deep, natural indigo blues and madder reds. Complete with visible remnants of its original light wool fringe at the ends.
