This piece deviates from the conventional Afghan Kilim design. A pair of jagged polygons act as the centrepiece, which are beautifully outlined in a royal purple to enhance their importance. However, as we move to the border, the light pastel hues that fill the meandering pattern are barely visible on the pale red ground. These muted colours give this Kilim a distinct, whitewashed look that makes it appear older than it actually is.
