An antique Caucasian Shirvan rug, woven in the 19th century, showcases a gorgeous saffron yellow ground and rich vegetable dyes. The elongated field features parallel vertical columns of highly stylized, shield-like boteh motifs, each individually detailed with stepped inner arrows and contrasting geometric cores that exhibit a beautiful, natural horizontal abrash. This dense field is framed by an inner rosette guard border and a prominent ivory primary border bearing the classic running dog pattern. Natural ivory wool warps and thin Hand-spun brown wool wefts, confirming a tribal East Caucasian origin.
